Santiago

Dry and big and busy, with an impressive backdrop if you can see it. If one didn’t know that that la Avenida Liber Bernardo O’Higgins was the main drag, you wouldn’t know where to place the central downtown of Santiago amongst its spralling array of apartment buildings dwarfed by the odd skyscraper.

At this stage, Santiago’s museums, and many of it’s touristic points of interest remain unvisited and will populate another post, but the first impression of the city from above as surveyed from the Cerro San Cristobal, bathed in Sunday afternoon sunshine and, as often is the case, a layer of its own smog, is impressive none the less.

Plaza La Moneda, Paseo Ahumada, Plaza de Armas, Avenida Libertador Bernard O’Higgins and other nearby places constitute ‘Santiago Centro’ – this includes an array of museums and parks.
